These terms are the agreement between you and Famtale (“we”, “us”) for using the Famtale app and the website at famtale.app. We’ve kept them short and plain. By creating or joining a family, you agree to them — and to our Privacy Policy, which explains exactly what happens to your data.
Famtale sends your family one gentle question a day. Everyone answers in their own language and reads in theirs, and it all slowly becomes your family’s memory book. Answering also quietly means “I’m OK,” so a family living apart can notice when someone might need a call. Famtale is currently free.
You need an account (an email and password) to use Famtale, and you must give accurate details and keep your login to yourself. You confirm that you are 16 or older, or that a parent or guardian agrees to your use. Famtale is meant to be set up by an adult in the family. You’re responsible for what happens under your account.
The answers, voice notes, moods and chapters your family creates belong to your family — not to us. We don’t claim ownership of your content and we never sell it. We only use it to provide Famtale: to store it for you, translate and transcribe it so everyone can read it, deliver notifications, and compile your weekly memory chapters, as described in the Privacy Policy.
What’s shared in your family group is visible to the members of that group — and no one else. You can only read others’ answers to a question once you’ve answered it yourself. Be kind and honest with each other: don’t use Famtale to harass, threaten, or share content that’s unlawful, hateful, or that you don’t have the right to share. Because a family group is a shared, trusting space, we may remove content or access if these terms are seriously broken.
To translate and transcribe your answers and to write your memory chapters, Famtale sends the words of your answers (and voice recordings) to AI providers, as our Privacy Policy explains. AI can make mistakes — translations and chapters may not be perfect, so please read them as helpful, not authoritative. If you’d rather keep an answer out of AI entirely, tap Keep private on it.
You can export your family’s memories at any time from Settings. A family organiser can permanently delete the whole family — every answer, voice note and chapter — and we’ll remove it from our systems (best effort, including cached copies). If you want your own data removed and you’re not the organiser, email us and we’ll help. You can stop using Famtale whenever you like.
We work hard to make Famtale reliable and kind, but we can’t promise it will always be available, error-free, or that notifications will always arrive on time — so please don’t rely on it as an emergency or medical alerting service. To the extent the law allows, Famtale is provided “as is” without warranties, and we aren’t liable for indirect or incidental losses. Nothing here limits rights you have that can’t be waived under the law where you live.
As Famtale grows — and before it opens to the public — we may update these terms and will change the “Last updated” date above. For meaningful changes, we’ll ask you to review and agree again in the app.
